John 15:1-27

  1. Read verses 1-3. Describe the relationships between Jesus, his Father and his disciples (1,5a). What does his Father do to the branches, why, and how? (2-3; Ps 80:8-20; Isa 5:1-7; Ezk 15:1-8) To bear more fruit what should be pruned to you?
  2. Read verses 4-11. What is essential for us to bear good fruit? (4-6) How can we abide in Jesus? (7-10) Why should we bear much fruit (8,11; Ge1:28; Mt 7:16a)?
  3. Read verses 12-17. How much should we love one another? (12-13,17) Give an example of such love (Lk 23:34; Ge 44:33). How can we become Jesus’ friends and disciples? (14-16a) Why did Jesus choose his disciples? (16b)
  4. Read verses 18-27. Why does the world hate Jesus’ disciples? (18-21) Why is the world guilty of sin? (22-25) Who bears witnesses about Jesus in the sinful world? (26-27) What should we do in this sinful world?
